To mark the 45th anniversary of the School of Optoelectronic Engineering, the school held a thematic report meeting featuring its outstanding alumni. On the afternoon of May 23rd, 2024, Mr. Li Yongqiang, an outstanding alumnus who is currently the Deputy Director of the Product Testing Center at the 508 Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and the technical head of the Space Optical Remote Sensor Testing and Evaluation Center, returned to his alma mater and revisited the campus. As the keynote speaker of the "Optoelectronics Forum", he delivered a special report entitled "Returning to My Alma Mater to Relate Spaceflight Stories, Returning to My Teacher's Doorstep with Optoelectronics Sentiments."

The report meeting was hosted by Huang Hong, the Deputy Dean of the School of Optoelectronic Engineering. He first expressed his warm welcome on behalf of the School of Optoelectronic Engineering to alumnus Li Yongqiang and his delegate, and introduced the current development status of the School of Optoelectronic Engineering and the Department of Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments. Huang Hong noted that alumni are valuable treasures of the school, and their career development reflects the educational level of the university from one aspect. As a member of the alumni, Li Yongqiang has undertaken the development of significant national aerospace projects such as Gaofen and Chang'e, and his achievements are remarkable to all. Through this Optoelectronics Forum, Huang Hong expressed his hope that the future students would be inspired by the learning and growing journey of outstanding alumni, inherit their perseverance and hardworking spirit in the aerospace industry, and strive to excel.

Li Yongqiang began his speech by reflecting on his studies at the School of Optoelectronics Engineering through his graduation photos, expressing gratitude to his teachers for their guidance and to the school for its educational nurturing. He focused on sharing his journey as an optoelectronics student pursuing dreams "among the stars and oceans." He first briefly introduced the basic information of the 508 Institute of the Fifth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, which was established in 1958 and is one of the earliest units engaged in space technology research in China. Generations of aerospace professionals, led by outstanding representatives such as academicians Guo Yonghuai, Yang Nansheng, Wang Xiji, and Lin Huabao, who have devoted themselves to the exploration and research on four major fields: space optical remote sensing, spacecraft recovery and landing, spacecraft composite material molding, and spacecraft pyrotechnic devices.Subsequently, he introduced the main departments of the Product Testing Center, including optics, structure, electrical assembly, precision testing, etc., which is highly in line with the school's training principle of "light, machinery, electricity, computation, and control." Finally, combining with the training program for the major of Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments, he introduced the core courses of the optoelectronic major, emphasizing the practical application of acquired knowledge. He noted that optoelectronics-related majors are ancient yet youthful "sunrise" professions, and that optoelectronic technology is ubiquitous, with vast potential for self-reliance and self-strengthening in the field of science and technology.

Li Yongqiang engaged in full communication with students and teachers. At the end of the report, Huang Hong presented Li Yongqiang with a souvenir on behalf of the school as a token of acknowledgement for the invited presentation at the Optoelectronics Forum.
